Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England. We have contributed significantly to the development of arts education for over 170 years, and have developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students and staff.
This is an opportune time to join the BA (Hons) Animation course team, as you will be able to make a distinct contribution to this ambitious course. This specialist course offers students a professional understanding of studio and freelance practice, developing specialist skills within a range of creative careers.
The main focus of the role will be to support Module Leaders in the delivery of practice-based modules across levels 4, 5, and 6. In addition, you will be required to provide support to students using a range of traditional and digital approaches to Animation. You will be expected to have an excellent understanding of Stop Motion animation and 2D/3D digital animation on a practical, technical and conceptual level, as well as a deep understanding of discourse surrounding animation practice. As part of the role, you will also be required to provide technical studio support to animation students using a range of Dragonframe and Adobe Creative Cloud software. The ability to use and support Toon Boom Harmony and Storyboard Pro, Blender and TV Paint would be desirable.
Ideally, you will need the skills or connections to build links with external employers, events, and opportunities for exhibiting student work. Working individually and as a member of a team you will be expected to deliver teaching on-campus with some tutorials and large group lectures online through video conferencing and undertake assessment on the course; devising appropriate plans and schemes of work accordingly.
The successful candidate will have a degree in a relevant subject, be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and expertise as an industry professional, active practitioner or educator in Animation.
