Peterhouse is the oldest College in Cambridge (founded in 1284) and is among the smallest (currently 291 undergraduates; 176 postgraduates; 43 Fellows).

The College is seeking to appoint to this exciting post of Prospect Researcher to work closely with the Development Director to build, replenish and monitor a pipeline of Prospects to support the growth of major giving at Peterhouse. The successful candidate will identify and qualify new prospects and provide research to support the Development Director to make informed decisions to engage, cultivate and solicit gifts from prospects and peer-to-peer networks.

The successful candidate will provide insights into new areas of prospecting to replenish the prospect pipeline with high quality prospects in order to meet current and future income targets. They will implement a Prospect Research Strategy aligned to the College’s strategic priorities and work collaboratively with other members of the Development Office to ensure we are maximizing opportunities. They will also support and deliver essential due diligence practices – assessing and escalating reputational risk or moral and ethical concerns in line with the College’s policy.

You will have a strong appreciation of the importance of due diligence, data protection and complying with the latest GDPR and ICO updates. You will have the ability to gather information from the public domain in accordance with GDPR, Data protection regulation, IoF and charity law, together with the ability to conduct due diligence research to assess and escalate reputational risk or ethical concerns regarding source of wealth or company operations. You will understand the principles of philanthropy fundraising practices and donor motivations.
