(higher salary of £55,075 - £60,500 plus London Allowances (£3,727 & £1,402) per annum will be available for candidates with significant relevant experience)
We are seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic and motivated Senior HPG Engineer to join the Bioinformatics Facility at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences as the Institute seeks to grow its Scientific Computing provision and cement its future support of computational biology.
The LMS houses over 300 research staff and postgraduate students and is sited at Hammersmith Hospital, enjoying close links with Imperial College and the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
As well as making use of the wider HPC provisions available within Imperial College, the LMS houses its own HPC cluster used extensively by its multidisciplinary research groups and the Institute facilities. Replacing its previous provision in 2023, the LMS has installed a new SLURM-based cluster housing CPU, HMEM, and GPU nodes. In line with current and future requirements, the postholder will proactively design, manage, and develop the Institute’s new provision and explore ways to facilitate easier and more widespread usage through deployment of interactive computing applications (e.g. Open OnDemand).
A suitable candidate is expected to have significant knowledge and experience across a range of areas, including Linux system administration, software installation and management, job schedulers, configuration-as-code cluster management and automation tooling, performance reporting and optimization, and hardware installation and maintenance.
