We are seeking a Clinical Research Associate to contribute to the conduct of Phase 1b, 2 and Phase 3 clinical trials as well as experimental medicine studies in patients with severe obesity and patients with fatty liver disease. The successful applicant will join an internationally recognised team led by Professor Sadaf Farooqi and will be based in the Institute of Metabolic Science on the Addenbrooke's Hospital campus, Cambridge. The team are playing a leading role in trialling new weight loss medications in patients with severe obesity due to genetic causes and performing experimental medicine studies in people with extreme metabolic phenotypes supported by the Botnar Fondation.

Possession of MRCP (UK) or its recognised equivalent is essential. Given the complex medical needs of the patient groups, advanced postgraduate training in adult Endocrinology / Diabetes, Hepatology or a closely related medical specialty such as Chemical Pathology or Metabolic Medicine, is essential (ST5 or above).

Previous experience of clinical research in the field of metabolism/obesity is essential (applicants should have a PhD in this area).

Registration and Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council will be required for this appointment.

Key responsibilities of the post:

- Assume leading role in research studies and trials

- Provide clinical care to study participants

- Work alongside senior nurses to support participants with study investigations

- Enter, check and analyse data 

Essential Criteria:

- Medical qualification and training in General Internal Medicine and Diabetes/Endocrinology, Hepatology or related Specialty to at least ST5 level or equivalent

- Possession of MRCP or equivalent

- GMC registration or ability to obtain registration before job commencement
