We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to develop a new cryogenic super-resolution fluorescence microscope for correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) of cryogenically frozen specimens.
The new 2-year position will be located at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) in Cambridge, UK within the group of Chris Russo, working in collaboration with James Manton at the LMB, and Kasim Sader at AstraZeneca as part of the LMB/AZ Blue Sky collaboration (www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/research/blue-sky-collaboration).
You should have a PhD in a relevant subject or be due to complete within 6 months, with a strong background in methods development and/or instrument building. The goal of the project is to develop a fluorescence imaging method with sufficiently high resolution for correlation to electron cryotomography (cryo-ET) datasets at the molecular level, allowing for the unambiguous identification of molecules of interest. Experience in fluorescence microscopy and instrument development will be helpful, and expertise in volumetric data processing would be useful as well.
For further information please contact Chris Russo (crusso@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk) & James Manton (jmanton@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk) or visit their websites: www.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/crusso/, www.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/jmanton/.
