What makes Goldsmiths unique?
Goldsmiths is a world-renowned university that has a reputation for rigorous and innovative academic work; creativity has long been our hallmark. Academic excellence and imaginative course content combine to make a place where creative minds can thrive.
About the Department:
The Computing Department is central to Goldsmiths’ interdisciplinarity, frequently leading on initiatives and enjoying joint research and teaching with other departments across the university.
Our growth is built on a view of computer programming as a creative discipline that draws support from, and strengthens, a range of intellectual disciplines. This ethos deeply affects everything we do: from research to public engagement, to work with industry, and to our teaching. We believe that this makes us a unique place to study computing and an exceptional computer science environment in which to work.
About the Role:
This post is for a specialist Technician within an existing technical support team and, with that team, would ensure the smooth-running of teaching and related activities within the department.
Responsibilities are primarily to ensure that the department is providing an excellent technical support service to students and staff working in the Department of Computing’s physical computing and digital fabrication facilities. The post holder would work closely with other members of the technical team, students, and academic staff.
About the Candidate:
This is a customer-facing role, and as such it is essential to have good interpersonal skills, patience and tact when communicating with students and staff in the department and across campus. Ideally, you will have generalised technical knowledge and experience in computing and A/V technologies, combined with specialised knowledge and experience with physical computing and digital fabrication.
