About the role

The University of Leicester School of Healthcare is amongst the forefront of progressive and dynamic nurse education. The undergraduate MSci Nursing with Leadership (Dual and Single Field) course is one of the most innovative programmes in the UK and aims to develop the next generation of nurse leaders. The four year pre-registration dual qualification course is one of the first in the country that has been developed to train future nurse leaders, and equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to meet the challenges that the constantly evolving healthcare landscape provides.

Due to the continuation of the MSci Nursing with Leadership and the introduction of Single Registration pathways, we want to recruit existing passionate Nurse Lecturers or clinicians straight from practice, who will join our journey and help propel us towards excellence. You will be supported to achieve a teaching qualification, if not already held, and you will have opportunity to participate in the University of Leicester mentor connect scheme to help further your professional development.

You will join a developing and enthusiastic team that is committed to providing student focused clinical education and academic excellence, in our new purpose built education and simulation facility based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. Working in partnership with our local healthcare providers gives students access to a wide variety of learning experiences within world recognised specialities.

You will be part of the School of Healthcare and work alongside multi-disciplinary teams that include Midwifery, Operating Department Practitioner, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Pharmacy. Your role will involve teaching, scholarship and administrative duties in line with the School of Healthcare teaching, assessment and research strategies.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be a registered mental health nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have a degree in Nursing.

As an experienced practitioner and educator, you will have the ability to facilitate student learning using a comprehensive range of delivery methods including; lectures, simulations, clinical skills, interactive group work, and tutoring. You will be confident in reviewing, evaluating and developing the key skills of students, being able to develop resource materials to enhance teaching quality. Experience in non-medical prescribing would be desirable although not essential. Most of all we want you to bring your passion for Mental Health nursing into the classroom to inspire the nurses of the future.
