This full-time UKRI funded post is available from 1st December 2023 to 30th November 2025 on a fixed-term basis. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours.
The Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr. Mark Robinson in relation to the Biodiversity and the Legacy of Anthropogenic Disturbance on Environments in the Neotropics project.
The successful applicant will conduct spatial analysis and modelling of project data.
You will conduct spatial analysis and modelling of proxy data, including Lidar, archaeological, palaeoecological, ecological, and palaeoclimate data to categorise the biogeophysical and archaeological landscape to identify target locations for field sampling and develop models of vegetation and anthropogenic disturbance through time; writing up research for publication; liaising with the wider international project team; presenting research at international and project meetings.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
Applicants will have proficiency in manipulating remote sensing data, use of GIS platforms, experience working with earth observation time-series data, and an understanding of forest ecology.
