This is an exciting opportunity to work with Yorkshire Children’s Centre (YCC), and the University of Huddersfield, to research the growing issue of parental conflict (evidence, impact, family support, theory, and practice) and to co-produce solutions for children and families affected by or at risk of parental conflict. This innovative collaboration is funded by Innovate UK through the acclaimed Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme.

We are seeking a Research and Development Manager (KTP Associate) who will be responsible for researching, developing and bringing to market innovative training packages and associated resources for a range of professionals working with families.

The Organisation

Yorkshire Children’s Centre is a regional charity working with vulnerable and disadvantaged children, young people, and their families, within Kirklees and the surrounding areas. Our vision is that all young people have opportunities for a better life, now and in the future.

The Role

You will be generating research evidence, analysis and dissemination through the development of training packages and additional resources for professionals working with families experiencing or at risk of experiencing family conflict. The Research and Development Manager will utilise appropriate research methods, develop a cohesive training framework, content and delivery plans for the training, pilot and evaluate the training and resources. You will contribute to marketing the training through engagement with local and national stakeholders. As a result from the knowledge transfer from this KTP, you will shape YCC’s research and development agenda, informed by evidence and learning from the project.

This role reports to the Head of Children and Family Services at Yorkshire Children’s Centre and is supervised by an Academic from the University of Huddersfield. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve project goals, while having access to the University’s platforms, expertise and resources.

The Person

With a Masters degree in a field related to working with children and/or families, or an undergraduate degree in a field related to working with children and/or families with experience gained working in a relevant sector, you will need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of research methods, analysis, project planning and delivery and will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills with a range of stakeholders. The role will be supported and enhanced by leadership training and mentorship, available through the KTP.
