Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoctoral research position at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) at Imperial College London (http://lms.mrc.ac.uk/).
We have developed new technology for high-throughput behavioural screening and quantitative phenotyping that we are now using to discover neuroactive compounds in natural products and to repurpose existing drugs to treat rare genetic diseases. This position would give you access to rich datasets that are an ideal testbed for developing new methods for behaviour analytics with real biological impact. You will also work closely with experimentalists to put your methods into practice and follow leads that come out of analysis work.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative scientist with a PhD or equivalent experience and a knack for quantitative data analysis. Good coding skills are essential, previous work with Python is desirable. Experience with machine learning (including deep learning), image analysis, and tracking would also be an asset. Other members of the team have backgrounds in genetics, physics, neuroscience, and engineering. Your particular path is less important than your desire to learn and work on interesting problems.
The Behavioural Phenomics lab is a friendly interdisciplinary team headed by Dr André Brown. For more information, see the group’s website at https://tierpsy.com/.
Keywords: Machine learning, Python, computer vision, phenotypic screening, neuroscience, pharmacology
