We have an exciting opportunity for a Duty Wellbeing Adviser in the Student Support team at the University of Salford!
The University has made significant investment within its mental health provisions in recent years and is fully committed to the wellbeing of its students and the continuous improvement of its services. The core function of the Wellbeing team is to provide appropriate support / signposting and intervention for students experiencing emotional and / or psychological distress, or significant personal difficulties that may impede their engagement, success, and progression.
Key Responsibilities
As the main point of contact for our students over evenings and weekends, the Duty Wellbeing Adviser will be responsible for responding to immediate student needs when they find themselves in crisis or distress. The postholder will be providing an immediate response for support for students experiencing emotional, psychological, or mental health difficulties. The post holder should have a demonstrable clinical background and be experienced in supporting people in crisis or in challenging situations.
The Duty Wellbeing Advisor will be expected to respond in a timely manner and work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to provide a rapid, high-quality, and supportive student experience. We are looking for talented individuals that can demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to work sensitively, empathetically, and calmly with people that are experiencing distress or are in crisis. This role may also involve liaison with the on-campus security team, university accommodation providers, local hospitals, and the police.
The post holder will be expected to work in any of the sites across the University. As this role will be supporting our students outside of core working hours, the working pattern will include a range of shifts on a rotational basis between the hours of 8am and 8pm Monday – Sunday.
