As part of the Evening Team, you will assist with the effective delivery of library services on your designated site, although you might occasionally be required to work at any of the other UAL college libraries.
Working in our friendly team, you will participate in on-site front-line delivery of high-quality customer-focused library and open access IT services.
You will also support with administrative duties including support for self-issue systems, IT and printing and support on-line enquiries, via our live chat service, ASK.
You will assist users with general directional and initial information enquiries, including the use of the library catalogue and e-resources. You may also be required to take part in shelving activities and demonstrate an understanding of manual handling guidelines.
As this is a term time only post you are expected to work all the term time evenings.
Other evening roles may arise following interviews at other College libraries, which shortlisted candidates may be considered for within 3 months of interview for the current roles on offer.
These are 33 weeks a year contracts and the salary is spread across 12 months of the year. In the 2023/2024 academic year UAL Libraries will be open 31 weeks of the year. This working pattern leaves a number of reserve hours to be worked by arrangement, usually in the daytime.
About you
You should have relevant library or customer service experience, and formal training. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be IT literate. Working in a small team, you will provide positive and responsive customer service.
