If you are interested in connecting Parliament to other sectors, enjoy interacting with lots of different stakeholders and like applying creative solutions to reach a successful outcome, this may be the ideal job opportunity for you!

The Team

The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) serves both the House of Commons and House of Lords and is the office in UK Parliament that bridges research and policy. Its work includes the production of impartial, non-partisan and peer-reviewed briefings on topics in science, technology and the social sciences; horizon scanning activities; delivery of seminars and events; and support to select committees. POST is also home to UK Parliament’s Knowledge Exchange Unit (KEU), in which this role will be based.

The Role

The KEU supports the exchange of information and expertise between researchers and UK Parliament, working with higher education and beyond. The team delivers a range of activities, including: providing training and resources for researchers; promoting Parliament’s research evidence needs through social media and communications; delivering academic fellowship programmes; connecting members of the research and parliamentary communities with each other; and collaborating with the higher education sector to strengthen and diversify academic engagement with Parliament.

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of these activities. You will lead or manage some of these activities, and contribute to delivering others. You will be encouraged to think more broadly and creatively about how to improve the activities the KEU delivers and supports.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Experience of developing and delivering knowledge exchange programmes or activities.
  • Experience of managing multiple discrete projects at the same time, including demonstrated ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including at senior levels, both within UK Parliament and with external bodies.
  • Experience of using social media to promote and disseminate content, and or organising roundtables and events.

  • Application Form - If you would like to apply for this role, please submit an application providing evidence against criteria 1-5 in the Job Description.

More information on the role and the full criteria can be found in the Job Description.
