We’re looking for someone who is passionate about technology and customer service to join our small, friendly Media Team as our Media and AI Service Manager. This exciting role will enable someone to push boundaries and gain experience with this fast-evolving technology. 

The individual will manage our Captioning Service, taking the lead in discovering how we use AI solutions to improve transcripts, captions and media summaries to ensure they are excellent learning resources. This is a great opportunity for either an experienced Service Manager or an individual with a background in technology looking to grow and develop within the role.

The role offers a salary of £37,099 – 44,263 pa and has a hybrid-working pattern, involving working on-campus in Edinburgh at least two days a week. Working hours are ideally 35hrs per week, but the team are committed to offering flexibility so we would be happy to consider options like compressed hours or staggered start/finish times.

What you’d be doing on the job:

• Researching, proposing, and supporting new developments in AI technology.
• Working with multidisciplinary teams to determine how we improve our media services using AI.
• Managing our new Captioning Service and an enthusiastic team of student Caption Editors who work part-time, to ensure that our huge collection of video and recorded lectures meet accessibility standards. 
• Ensuring content is accessible, providing effective technical support and communicating with users across a large, diverse organisation.
• Providing operational service management, training, support, and advice on using media services across the University. 
• Managing supplier relationships and managing business-critical services.
