Applications are invited for an 18-month fixed term Research Associate position at Selwyn College, funded by the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA). Candidates will have a background in Law and a keen interest in employment law, especially in the resolution of disputes.
The research is led by Sarah Fraser Butlin (David K P Li Fellow in Law at Selwyn College) and Catherine Barnard FBA FLSW (Professor of European Union and Employment Law, Fellow of Trinity College). The Research Associate will work closely with them to explore how the resolution of employment disputes might best be achieved. This will include empirical research looking at the issues with the current system, considering other dispute resolution mechanisms that are utilised in other forms of dispute in the UK and overseas, and creating a model for the future of employment disputes.
The role-holder will participate in media and public engagement events, engaging with policy makers as well as dissemination of the research via more traditional academic presentations. They will attend and present at workshops and conferences both in the UK and overseas.
Candidates for the post of Research Associate should normally have a PhD (submitted or nearly submitted at the time of application) in a relevant field and with demonstrable experience of the research methods required for this project. They should provide evidence of potential for research and publication at the highest level.
The closing date for applications is Friday 15 December 2023.
Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled shortly after the application close date.
