The University of Aberdeen Student Support Services team is seeking to recruit a Student Resident Assistant Supervisor in a new fixed-term maternity cover position, to coordinate and manage the team of Resident Assistants working in University Halls of Residence. The team help students with the transition to University life, many of whom are coming to live away from home for the first time.
This new, fixed-term role, will provide management and oversight of a team of Student Resident Assistants and will support their work in providing a signposting service to help residents with any difficulties they may encounter (from emotional issues, academic worries, disagreements between flatmates) and help coordinate and deliver a diverse calendar of events to help students settle in, make new friends, learn new skills and feel part of a supportive community. The role will also support processes relating to student support casework for student residents. The role will operate on a shift basis, based for the majority of time from our Hillhead site and will require evening, late night, and weekend working.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a passion for the student experience and will be confident working independently but able to work effectively as part of a busy team. They will be confident in building and maintaining strong internal and external networks and interacting with members of the community. They must be empathic and professional when dealing with students and have an understanding of equality of access.
The successful applicant will have experience of delivering events/activities, preferably in Further or Higher Education (FE/HE) or in a residential environment. The successful applicant will also be able to demonstrate experience of leading teams and supervising/managing staff.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of a similar role in a large organisation and will have excellent customer service skills and a welcoming and professional approach. They will be positive, proactive, and flexible whilst possessing excellent IT, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to multitask effectively.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 5, £29,619 - £33,314 per annum with placement according to qualifications and experience.
