An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated HR Coordinator to join the Clinical School HR Team; a specialist team providing a range of HR, recruitment and clinical services to staff and visitors across the School of Clinical Medicine (SCM).
The team are based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, and it's an exciting time to join with key projects moving forwards including a new Children's Hospital and Cancer Research Hospital.
The HR Coordinator will support, and have a strong HR presence in the Department of Clinical Biochemistry/Wellcome-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science; https://www.mrl.ims.cam.ac.uk/ to deliver an efficient, high quality HR transactional and advisory service with the goal of ensuring the smooth running of departmental HR processes and procedures.
You will work closely with the SCM HR Team, and key departmental contacts in a varied role, providing a professional service to deliver the best experience to all members of the department.
This includes training, advisory and administrative support to staff and managers, in addition to undertaking a range of HR projects. You will be responsible for providing advice to managers and staff on a range of HR topics such as staff welfare, performance, disciplinary/grievance, terms and conditions of employment, workforce planning and reward. Evidence of advising management on staffing matters including employee relations and payroll is therefore advantageous.
You will enjoy communicating with individuals and strive for a high level of quality in everything that you do. You will feel comfortable being able to plan and prioritise your own workload, delegate where appropriate and be a team player, contributing to the success of the team.
The role is available either on a part-time basis (3 days per week) or on a full-time basis (focused on the Department of Clinical Biochemistry 3 days per week, and other HR activity within the SCM HR team 2 days per week). The SCM HR team are currently operating a hybrid working model, subject to regular review. The successful postholder would be expected to attend the workplace a minimum of 2 days per week. To facilitate a full induction whilst settling into the new role, attendance will be on a more regular basis during the initial months of appointment.
