Description

The University is looking for a Data Architect to lead the modernisation of the University’s data technology and strategy to build our data capability and drive value and innovation from our data.

The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of modern data architectures and technologies, understand the importance of data to the business and be an advocate of data governance and information management.

The post will be line managed by the Chief Architect and will work closely with data and integration architects, BI teams, and system and data owners.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Degree or professional qualification in IT subject or relevant experience.  ITIL foundation qualified, or able to demonstrate relevant operational experience using appropriate best practice framework.
  • Desirable: Project Management qualification – for example, Prince 2, DSDM, MSP, PMP.  TOGAF qualified (framework for enterprise architecture).

Experience, skills, and knowledge

  • Expertise in delivering large scale and complex data solutions.
  • Good understanding of data warehousing design, techniques, and processes.
  • Expert SQL skills combined with the ability to understand data models, data quality, data profiling, and data discovery on Oracle and MSSQL database platforms.
  • Experience delivering projects with Microsoft data and business intelligence tools such as SSIS and SSRS, Data Factory, PowerBI.
  • In-depth experience of cloud-based data solutions, including data workflow and function technologies.
  • Expertise initiating and delivering operational, technological, and process improvement change.

Salary: Grade 9; £46,974to £54,395 (up to £61,198 with discretionary points)
