The Oxford Department of International Development (ODID) is seeking to recruit a Communications and Events Assistant to join its small but active Communications team within the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI). 

The candidate will be responsible for digital communications and will carry out routine posting of OPHI’s multilingual social media schedule, under the supervision of the Communications Manager. The post will suit a flexible candidate who enjoys working in factual communications aimed at engaging a wide range of audiences. The candidate will also provide events support for the Global Engagement and Events Officer for OPHI’s active international event calendar, which includes United Nations Side Events, an annual two-week Summer School, the five-day OPHI Executive Education Programme, the OPHI Seminar Series which runs across two terms of the academic year, conferences and workshops, book and report launches, and other events as required.
 
The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level, or have the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience. They will have experience of digital communications and/or excellent written communications skills in English, including the ability to write engaging, accurate, tonally appropriate, and clear copy which translates academic research for a range of specialist and non-specialist audiences on social media. They will also have collaborative team-building skills including strong verbal communication skills to flourish in a fast-paced working environment online and in person and the capacity to respect, act and provide constructive feedback. Excellent diplomatic skills to build strong relationships with internal colleagues and external partners, including high-level speakers and their staff, are essential to this role.
 
This post is full-time and fixed-term for 12 months.
