As a top global 100 University committed to research excellence the University of Birmingham is an exciting and dynamic place to work. We have been awarded funding from the Wellcome Trust to trial innovative ways of making higher education research cultures more race-inclusive, and we are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to help lead on the delivery of this work. The postholder will lead on the the development and the delivery of the project implementation plan and will monitor the project budget. The postholder will work closely with the project delivery team, external and internal advisory board members and contractors engaged to support the delivery of this work. They will also build alliances across the University and the wider HE EDI infrastructure to help ensure good practice is captured and lessons relevant to the University and the wider higher education sector are learned. The postholder will also line manage the ASPIRE Communications and Administration Officer.
Educated to degree level of equivalent, the ASPIRE Programme Manager should have excellent project planning and management skills with a proven track record in the delivery of high-profile projects. An understanding of the barriers experienced by racially minoritised researchers and related staff and experience of championing Equality and Diversity and fostering an inclusive working culture is also required.
