The University of Nottingham is inviting applications for the position of Research Fellow to join an Industry sponsored project that aims to develop high energy density supercapatteries with aqueous and non-aqueous electrolytes such as ionic liquids and molten salts. The person appointed will be expected to plan and conduct work using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research and will be responsible for writing up their work for publication.
The person appointed will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their research portfolio.
For the Research Fellow position, a PhD degree in chemistry, materials science or a related area is required. Excellent candidates who are near completion of their theses will also be considered. Work experience in the field of supercapacitors, batteries and supercapacitors is essential. A good level of knowledge and research skills of aqueous and non-aqueous chemistry, carbon and polymer-based electrode materials and aqueous and non-aqueous electrolytes are desirable. In addition to research, you will also help supervise other members of the team and participate in teaching related activities.
A common key aspect of your role will be working with industrial sponsor and research collaborators of the project, which will also benefit career development.
This is a full-time (36.25 hours), fixed-term post for 24 months. Arrangements for job share may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
