Role Overview

Quantum Science Ltd (QS) has an exciting opportunity for a Synthetic Chemist to join our expanding R&D team and take a pivotal role in research and development of colloidal quantum dots and other advanced nanomaterials for optoelectronic applications.

Main tasks and responsibility

  • Responsible for the development of novel colloidal quantum dots and other nanomaterials for optoelectronic applications.
  • Routine characterization of colloidal quantum dots and nanomaterials using different techniques.
  • Analyse experimental data and suggest solutions to improve target properties within quantum dot synthesis.
  • Work closely with the R&D team to advance the company technologies increasing competitiveness.
  • Write invention disclosures to protect inventions and strengthen the company IP.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate and present technical results to team members of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Maintain work environment safety, product integrity.

Skills and Experience

  • PhD in chemistry, material science or equivalent degree.
  • Experience in design, synthesis, and characterisation of colloidal quantum dots and other nanocrystals.
  • Experience in surface modification of nanoparticles would be advantageous.
  • A can-do and hands-on attitude as well as good team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Well organised and ability to manage, prioritise and address forthcoming issues.
  • Be creative and innovative to generate ideas and implement.
  • Critical thinking/problem solving.
  • IT skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

KPI’s:

  • Achieving project milestones.
  • Reporting results to Team Leader in a timely manner.
  • All invention disclosures/ patents filed in a timely manner.
  • All samples are sent to other teams and customers in a timely manner.
  • Perform proper characterisation on samples.
  • Identify needed equipment and carry out procurement if necessary.
