Annual Leave:  25 days pro-rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus

Main duties and responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for the preparation of materials (including chemicals) and equipment for Practical Pharmacology teaching sessions in our state-of-the-art laboratories, as well as clearing and safely disposing of materials after sessions are complete. You will be required to maintain laboratories in a clean and tidy state, as well as ensure that equipment is in good condition, safe to use and calibrated as necessary. You will also contribute to the maintenance of equipment inventories and ensure that health and safety practices are implemented and observed (health & safety training will be provided). As all technical staff members are trained fire wardens, this will also be a part of the role.

Skills and experience required

You will have demonstrable experience of working in a relevant scientific laboratory environment, preferably gained within a higher education teaching establishment. An articulate and good communicator, you will be both reliable and a team player, as well as showing initiative and working independently when necessary.

It is essential to have the ability to be flexible and adaptable to team requirements by assisting in other related laboratories as the need arises. You will have knowledge of Pharmacology and safe working practices. The ideal candidate would have the ability to explain and demonstrate laboratory techniques and procedures to students and staff.

Qualifications required

You will hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area such as Pharmacology, or a closely-related science.
