1st Line IT Support Technician

As the College continues to grow we are making investments in our IT infrastructure and systems and want to develop our team to ensure we can effectively deliver our IT services. This role will be critical in responding to our stakeholders and system users and maintain a high quality user experience.

Your key duties will include;

  • To ensure the smooth operation of the College’s IT networks.
  • To provide a high quality support service to Teaching and Support Staff, Students and other users of the College’s IT networks.
  • To provide support and ticket management via the IT helpdesk ticketing system.
  • The installation and maintenance of a range of software and hardware.
  • The identification of requirements for the continued development of the IT systems.
  • Perform assigned duties and tasks associated with information security and the related policies.
  • Ensure the Colleges assets are entered into the necessary record systems and tracked robustly.
  • Represent IT Services in a positive manner across the college.

You will hold the following qualifications and experience and in order to access the higher salary levels will also hold some of the additional qualifications listed below;

  • Minimum of grade C in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent).
  • Commitment to and evidence of CPD.
  • Experience of working in a similar role.
  • Experience of providing varied system support.
  • Expert Knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows server Operating systems.
  • Awareness of GDPR and Information security best practice.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Network Technologies (AD, DNS, GPO, DHCP, Exchange, SQL etc.)
  • Experience of providing user support remotely and in person across multiple sites.
  • Flexible approach to work to allow for evening and weekend working.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate a customer centred approach.
  • Full driving licence and willing to travel as and when required.
  • Ability to use own initiative and possess a “can do” attitude.

Additional qualifications;

  • Microsoft / COMPTIA / VMware Certifications.
