About the role

We have an exciting new opportunity for an Adviser to join us at AccessAbility, providing specialist support for students with autistic spectrum conditions. This will include students both on course and in transition into and out of higher education.

As an Adviser, you will be responsible for understanding and explaining the impact of Autism on all aspects of student life, including study skills, sensory and anxiety management and wider aspects of University life. This will also include supporting students with co-occurring conditions such as SpLD, ADD, ADHD and mental health issues with their impacts on study.

About you

The ideal candidate for this role will be degree-educated (or equivalent) with experience of working in a Further or Higher Education environment, utilising excellent interpersonal skills to demonstrate an understanding of and an appropriate response to autism and other disabilities in higher education. This will include teaching qualifications or equivalent which meet the DfE’s mandatory qualifications framework for both Specialist Mentoring (Autism Spectrum Conditions) and Specialist one to one study skills and strategy support (Autism Spectrum Conditions).

In terms of knowledge, you should be able to demonstrate an understanding of disability and equality and data protection legislation. On a daily basis, you will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills in written, oral, remote and face to face contexts as well as patience, pragmatism, problem-solving and understanding.
