An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate join the School of Health Sciences on the Cancer Research UK funded “eSign study”. Digital behaviour change interventions are effective at supporting people to improve their health and prevent obesity, but are rarely used. Hospital electronic health records have been used to identify patients who would benefit from changing their health behaviours, who are then signposted to behaviour change apps via text-message. The aim of this study is to scale-up text-message signposting to weight-management apps, with a view to preventing cancer and cancer disparities. The objectives are 1) to facilitate and evaluate spread and adoption of text-message signposting across regional acute NHS Trusts and Primary Care Networks; 2) to co-design an evaluation toolkit to support adoption of text-message signposting in different contexts.

As a Senior Research Associate you will contribute ideas and/or enhancement of techniques or methodologies. You will analyse and interpret data, write up results and present information on research progress and outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to grant applications and may be involved in the supervision of researchers and teaching of students within the School.

You will have a postgraduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant research area.
