We have an exciting opportunity in the Multidisciplinary Engineering Education (MEE) Department for someone with a passion for practical engineering education.

Working in the state of the art 20,000m² Diamond Building,  you’ll be inspired by what we can offer our Engineering students.  We encompass world leading facilities in teaching and learning, with 15 specialist laboratories designed to create a fantastic place for interdisciplinary engineering education.   Within the Faculty of Engineering, one of the biggest and best engineering faculties in the UK, sits MEE, an innovative teaching group providing students with the opportunity to realise their full potential as engineering leaders with employable skills.

Our team has around 50 members of academic, technical and administrative staff.  The practical teaching covers a range of subject areas designed around 3 main themes:

Electrical, Electronic, Control, Computing & Robotics

Materials Science, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering

Thermodynamics, Mechanics, Structures, Fluids, Manufacturing Technology

We are seeking a capable, highly motivated  and enthusiastic multidisciplinary engineering technician to join our teaching team. You will work with colleagues to support practical teaching in laboratories and have particular responsibility in managing the day to day running of the cleanroom.

You will have proven experience of operating and maintaining equipment in and out of a cleanroom environment, with good communication skills essential for collaborating closely with colleagues within the department. An ability to follow clear instructions and encourage student learning is important.

Working with the Technical Team Leader, you will support the Faculty’s teaching activities by providing an effective and efficient technical service.

The role will include training staff and students in technical procedures, with a strong emphasis on health and safety, and reporting technical issues to senior staff as appropriate.

We are a collegial team, providing mentoring support for colleagues at all career stages. We welcome candidates from all subject areas and BAME applicants to contribute to the diversity of our team.
