We are seeking to appoint a permanent Senior Data and Systems Administrator to the Data and Systems team in the Postgraduate Admissions Office.

The Postgraduate Admissions Office co-ordinates the admission of applicants to postgraduate study at the University, supporting staff in the Faculties and Departments of the University and in the Cambridge Colleges to ensure quality service for the 25,000+ applicants who submit applications each year. The Data and Systems team provides information reporting and systems maintenance/development for postgraduate admissions within the University.

The Senior Data and Systems Administrator will play a key role in ensuring a smooth running and development of the systems used by PAO to support postgraduate applicants in admission to the University, and to enable a wide variety of stakeholders (including applicants, administrators and academics) to engage effectively with these systems.

In this role you will:

  • work closely with the IT team (based in University Information Services) to ensure continuous development and improvement of the postgraduate admissions systems - the course database, postgraduate applicant portal, and student records management system (CamSIS);
  • work to ensure effective communication between these systems;

Educated to first degree level or equivalent, you will have demonstrable experience of information management systems and electronic based record keeping, excellent IT skills (including experience using data analytics software), and experience of producing accessible reports from large complex data sets. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is an ability to build relationships, collaborate, and problem solve. Experience of working in a Higher Education environment and/or working to deliver a technology change are desirable, but we welcome applications from those with different, transferable, skills and an enthusiasm to learn.

If you feel you have the skills and drive to help the team achieve their objectives, you can enjoy a role in a stimulating and supportive working environment and where your work will lead to tangible change.

Additional information regarding the role may be found within the further particulars. Your application should include an up-to-date CV and a covering letter in which you set out clearly how your experience and expertise addresses the issues set out in this advertisement and the criteria listed in the Person Specification (the knowledge, skills and experience required for the role), providing relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted on this basis.

Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be directed to Rachel Sequeira, Information and Systems Manager at: rachel.sequeira@admin.cam.ac.uk

The closing date for applications is: Sunday, 10th March 2024

Interviews are expected to be held on: Thursday, 21st March 2024
