Applications are invited for a permanent appointment as Senior Lecturer in Accountancy & Finance at University of Galway, Ireland.
J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics is one of three Schools within the College of Business, Public Policy and Law at University of Galway. The school has 2,800 students, over 130 faculty, research and professional services staff, and over 30 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The School has successfully attained AACSB and AMBA accreditation as well as EFMD programme accreditation. The School is a member of PRME.
The Accountancy & Finance Discipline is recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in teaching and research. The Discipline offers three masters programmes: Master of Accounting; MSc in International Accounting and Analytics; and MSc in Corporate Finance. All of the masters programmes are accredited with global professional accounting bodies and the MSc in Corporate Finance is affiliated with CFA Institute. In addition, the Discipline delivers a designated undergraduate degree in Accounting (B. Comm. (Accounting)) and has designated streams in both Accounting and Finance on the well-recognised Bachelor of Commerce programme as well as a number of modules on the School’s flagship MBA programme.
Candidates should have a PhD in accounting or accounting-related area and a publication record and research supervision experience commensurate with the grade of appointment and preferably in areas of strength of the Accountancy & Finance group. In addition, they should have significant teaching experience in accounting modules, such as financial reporting, management accounting and auditing, at undergraduate and post graduate levels. Preference will be given to applicants with an ability to teach across more than one accounting area (e.g. auditing, financial accounting, management accounting). Candidates should have strong demonstrable leadership ability and an interest in leading and mentoring staff in the discipline. Applicants must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will contribute to do relevant teaching and assessment at all levels; engage in scholarship and research; and significantly contribute to the leadership and development of the Discipline of Accountancy & Finance and J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics; and contribute to the intellectual life of the University and the wider community.

(This appointment will be made on the Senior Lecturer scale in line with current Government pay policy)
