We are currently expanding and seeking a new team of 3 Autism Mental Health Advisors. Come and be part of a professional and passionate team committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational experience for students.

Autism Mental Health Advisors, based in the Mental Wellbeing Team, are part of a multidisciplinary team supporting working to meet the academic, practical and organisational needs of applicants and students with autism, whilst liaising with other University staff and/or external agencies to facilitate support provision.

We are committed to providing a high standard of service which respects disabled students’ rights and promotes their wellbeing; enabling students to access their academic study, rather than management or treatment of a specific condition.

Reporting to the Neurodiversity Mental Health Practice Lead, this role is an exciting opportunity to shape support for autistic students with cooccurring mental health difficulties. The main areas of the role are:

  • To assess, organise, co-ordinate, monitor and track support for students with Autistic Spectrum Conditions alongside any co-occurring mental health difficulties, in line with recommendations from their DSA assessment.
  • To ensure appropriate recommendations for reasonable adjustments are made through the University’s formal procedures in accordance with the Equality Act (2010), whilst ensuring students are aware of their entitlement to support from the University and external sources.
  • To assess and respond to complex and emerging issues of student risk, including suicide and self-harm, through action or referral whilst working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and external agencies as required.
  • To provide specialist professional activity in support of the service including liaising with the Neurodiversity Mental Health Practice Lead to drive forward strategic developments in inclusion at the University.

We particularly encourage applications from Black and Minority Ethnic groups who are currently under-represented within Loughborough University at grade 6 within professional services.

There are 3 positions:

1 x 1 FTE – Full Time, Open Ended working all year round.
