We have an exciting opportunity in the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) for someone with a passion for enhancing the impact of data within the UK manufacturing space by researching areas resulting in seamless interoperable data modelling, manufacturing data ontologies, and high-quality data for data science capabilities within a team of software developers, research engineers, modelling and simulation experts and others in the digital manufacturing space. The role is in the AMRC – Integrated Manufacturing Group.

As the ideal candidate, you should possess a proven track record in data modelling or information management, with a strong focus on successful delivery of data-focused projects. Your data-oriented approach, coupled with a deep understanding of data and information management, will equip you to tackle complex manufacturing challenges.

You will:

  • Have broad knowledge of data management and data integration principles.
  • Be motivated by optimising processes/services by focusing on the underlying data and the relationships between data and other actors.
  • Develop a prominent voice across the AMRC, and manufacturers we engage with, to advocate data integration best practices and steer a roadmap around it.
  • Be driven to constantly improve both yourself, those around you, and the processes and procedures that support your work.

About the Team

The University of Sheffield AMG builds on the success of the original Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing, creating a cluster of industry-focused manufacturing R&D centres and supporting facilities. The AMG with Boeing, established in 2001, has grown to become a world-leading centre of advanced machining and materials research for aerospace and other high-value sectors. It has around 70 industrial members, from global giants such as Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, to local small businesses.
