The Role
As a Research Fellow within the Centre for eMobility and Clean Growth you will undertake and play a lead role in the development of impactful research and consultancy activity. You will be committed to contributing to our continued success in delivery of science and engineering R&D programmes, joining a dynamic research centre with high levels of industry engagement.
This UKRI project is to be delivered through a consortium of academic and industry partners, with the work at Coventry University focusing on fast charge battery electrode and cell development and testing. This will involve moving from single layer pouch to prototype multilayer pouch cells, utilizing various state of the art technologies in device prototyping, and will offer a unique opportunity to engage and gain experience across the development and design journey of new energy storage technology.
Qualifications Required
PhD (or equivalent) or professional experience equivalent to a PhD demonstrating an ability to carry-out independent research with a background in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or Engineering.
Our Successful Candidate
You should have or be near obtaining a PhD in Chemistry, Materials, Physics or Engineering with a background in electrochemistry, electrode development and/or devices OR equivalent experience with a closely matching skillset to those specified in the Job Description and a strong familiarity with battery, supercapacitor or hybrid energy storage technologies. Experience in one or more of the areas of ink development (especially from lab through to Kg scales), reel to reel coating technologies, cell fabrication and design moving from coin cell to prototype devices would be highly advantageous, with the successful candidate having at least one of these areas. You will have excellent communication skills, experience of contributing to publications and the ability to manage and drive your own research.
