The Role
The Centre of Computational Science & Mathematical Modelling is at the forefront of innovation, conducting ground-breaking research in areas in the areas of machine learning, data science, reinforcement learning, cyber-physical systems, the internet of things, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, computational algebra & logic, and mathematical modelling. We utilise these to address the pressing challenges of our time, supporting work in areas such as sustainability, security, and healthcare. The centre represents Coventry University in the new Turing University Network, allowing staff access to the wider UK Data Science and AI ecosystem.
The centre has received significant investment and invites applications for a full-time Professor in Computer Science in one of the above research areas: cyber-physical systems, large language models, generative AI, explainable / interpretable AI. We are seeking an exceptional individual with a strong record of research leadership, a passion for academic excellence, and an unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative research environment.

Qualifications Required
A PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
Our Successful Candidate
Have a distinguished track record of research and publications in top-tier venues, by demonstrating leadership in research strategy development and implementation. Experience in securing competitive research funding and managing large-scale projects and be commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
Experience with UK's Research Excellence Framework or similar assessment exercises and a history of successful PhD supervision and researcher capacity building. As a professor you should have recognition for contributions to the field, such as prestigious awards or honours and engagement with industry, NGOs, and policy bodies to translate research into practice with a dynamic and agile approach to leading change in research culture and infrastructure.
