The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research. We are ambitious: our culture empowers people to collectively, and individually, make a real difference, shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world.

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented individual to join our Student Data team as a HESA Data Futures Manager. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in ensuring the University's full compliance with the HESA Data Futures project, driving efficient delivery with a ‘right first-time’ approach to data quality. If you are good with people and data, this post offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills and your career at the University of Surrey.

This is a fixed term position for 12 months, with the possibility of being extended dependent on funding.

The role

In this role, you will manage the implementation of HESA Data Futures at Surrey, ensuring the University is fully compliant from a data, processes, and system perspective. You will be a part of the HESA Data Futures project within the Student Data team and will help to co-ordinate activities supporting organisational and process changes required in Academic Registry for the successful completion of the Data Futures project.

You will be expected to identify key details of the HESA Data Futures return, ensuring that our return processes comply with relevant validation rules and the returns produced are as accurate as possible.

About you

You will have significant experience and expert knowledge of the SITS student record system, along with analysing data for quality purposes, expertise in continuous improvement of processes and systems, producing large management information returns, and the ability to understand and interpret business processes relating to the HESA Data Futures student return. Experience of statutory returns, and especially the HESA Data Futures student return is of particular importance due to the changes introduced in 2022/23.

This is a full-time role (hybrid), however we are happy to explore flexible working options.

What we can offer

In addition to salary, you will receive a yearly incremental pay rise, generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 7 university closure days and 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time roles), a generous pension, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes, and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.

How to apply

To apply please submit a CV and cover letter outlining why you are suitable for this role. You should include specific detail about how you meet the essential criteria stated in the person specification, including core competencies.

For an informal chat about the role please contact Fiona Marshall via f.l.marshall@surrey.ac.uk

Interviews will be held on campus w/c 15th April.

The University of Surrey is committed to providing an inclusive environment that offers equal opportunities for all.  We place great value on diversity and are seeking to increase the diversity within our community.  Therefore we particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups, such as people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and people with disabilities.
