Our recently restructured School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences offers a broad portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development courses led by an ambitious team. We focus on providing students with real-world learning experiences inside state-of-the-art facilities which reflect the kinds of environments they can expect to encounter in their professional careers.

About the role

Pharmacy is changing, with the role of the pharmacist expanding to provide more vital health services and person-centred care. This role will be key to ensure that pharmacists can rise to the challenge and will support the development of these key skills.

The role will play a key part in the academic development, course management, teaching and the continuing, and future success, of our MPharm and Advanced Certificate in independent prescribing courses and the wider role of the School in the Northwest region.

About you

Whilst experience in an educational institution is desirable, we welcome applications from individuals currently in clinical practice who are keen to use their prescribing skills to educate the next generation of pharmacists. While the role is advertised as full time, you may be inspired to teach in HE part time whilst maintaining currency in your clinical practice. If so, we will develop you as you step into a teaching career.

You will:

  • Possess primary and/or secondary healthcare experience, preferably with experience of prescribing in a healthcare environment.
  • Possess a non-medical prescribing qualification.
  • Hold registration with a relevant professional body.

Why choose a career at UCLan?

We offer fantastic benefits including:

  • a competitive annual salary together with an additional market rate supplement for the right candidate
  • 35 days annual leave per annum, plus bank holidays and 4 additional discretionary days over the Christmas period.
  • enrolment into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (with an employer’s contribution of 23.68%) with the additional opportunity to sign up to an Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) plan.
  • Family friendly policies, life insurance and sustainable travel schemes including discounted rail tickets, bus passes and an electric car salary sacrifice scheme.
  • A commitment to supporting your physical and mental health and wellbeing and healthy work-life balance. All staff have access to counselling services, and benefit from discounts on gym membership and the chance to opt in to a Medicash healthcare scheme and access to Vivup staff benefit scheme which provides discounts across a range of products and services.
  • We have an on-site multi faith centre and a pre-school.

If you would like an Informal discussion about the role with Clare Lawrence, Dean of School, or an informal tour of the school, then please contact her PA, Leanne Bowles by email at lbowles@uclan.ac.uk
