We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Geosciences capable of advancing the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Science’s interdisciplinary activities. SoGEES is a large, collaborative School with an enviable record of success, and our research and teaching activities address issues of sustainability on land and at sea.

You should have a PhD or equivalent in geosciences or a related discipline. You will be able to deliver high quality teaching in structural geology (e.g. rock mechanics / fractures and fluid flow) and geophysics (e.g. shallow geophysics) and to contribute your transferable skills to multidisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the School, including fieldwork. You should also possess data analysis, remote sensing, GIS, modelling or related capabilities, consistent with the School’s digital ambitions.

You will have a growing track record of excellent research (commensurate with career stage) that will contribute to our geo-marine and/or hazards research agendas. As a member of our academic community, you’ll be expected to contribute to our recognised research strengths and REF submissions. The University of Plymouth has a strong interdisciplinary research ethos which is supported by our three strategic Research Institutes; working holistically across the University, you will be challenged to innovate, collaborate and deliver impactful research contributions as part of a systems thinking approach to addressing today’s global challenges.

There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.

The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.
