We are looking to recruit two Teaching Associates to the School of Computer Science to support teaching across the Computer Science curriculum.

As a Teaching Associate, we are seeking candidates who are interested in developing their teaching career in computer science.  You will have the potential to deliver high-quality teaching under the support of experienced module convenors, to develop teaching methods in your areas of expertise, and have the opportunity to make an impact on the teaching of the discipline.  This role is part of our teaching and curriculum leadership career pathway, and there are opportunities to apply for promotion to higher levels on that pathway, initially as an Assistant Professor.

You will have the ability to deliver a high standard of teaching and facilitate student learning through a variety of methods to support the School’s requirements, within your areas of expertise. You will also contribute to the development of content and structure of existing and new modules as part of the overall curriculum, and have the opportunity to expand your areas of teaching expertise. The School has recently established a Computer Science Education group to coordinate pedagogical research and professional development in the teaching and learning of computing, and you will be expected to contribute to this growing programme of activity.

As part of your responsibilities, you will undertake research, individually and collaboratively, into the development of learning and teaching methods as well as maintaining and growing your knowledge in computer science. You will be active in collaboration and knowledge exchange with colleagues in the development of teaching and learning.

See our School’s website (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/computerscience/) for more information on our School’s vision, research strengths, and role within the university strategy.

We believe that world-class, multidisciplinary, and diverse teams will deliver the highest quality teaching, research, and student experience. Our vision as a School is to be highly rated in all areas: Research, Knowledge Exchange, Education, and Student Experience. We are equally committed to creating opportunities for people from groups traditionally under-represented in the field of Computer Science and therefore the ability to relate to and mentor students and colleagues within an increasingly ethnically and gender diverse community is essential.

At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop, and reach your professional and personal career goals. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a university employee, you will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance.

This is a permanent position. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 18.25 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. We are open to discuss flexible working arrangement. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Colin Johnson at Colin.Johnson@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
