We are looking to recruit teaching and curriculum leadership-focused Assistant and Associate Professors to the School of Computer Science, to grow our capacity in delivering excellent-quality teaching and learning at a time of rapid growth and expansion of the subject within the University.

The School of Computer Science is one of the largest Schools within the University, with over 1800 students and around 80 staff involved in delivering teaching. Alongside a well-established undergraduate programme with specialist pathways in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Physical Systems, the School has a growing portfolio of master’s programmes, with over 400 students engaged in MSc study in a diverse range of topics in Computer Science including joint programmes with mathematics (MSc Data Science) and Engineering (MSc Human Computer Interaction).

You will have the ability to deliver a high standard of teaching through a variety of methods to support the school’s teaching requirements. You will also be responsible for the development of content and structure of existing and new modules as part of the overall curriculum. The School has recently established a Computer Science Education group to coordinate pedagogical research and professional development in the teaching and learning of computing, and you will be expected to contribute to this growing programme of activity and have opportunities to develop your pedagogical skills.

As part of your responsibilities, you will undertake research, individually and collaboratively, into the development of learning and teaching methods as well as maintaining and growing your knowledge in computer science. You will be active in collaboration and knowledge exchange with colleagues in the development of teaching and learning.

See our School’s website (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/computerscience/) for more information on our School’s vision, research strengths, and role within the university strategy.

We believe that world-class, multidisciplinary, and diverse teams will deliver the highest quality teaching, research, and student experience. Our vision as a School is to be highly rated in all areas: Research, Knowledge Exchange, Education, and Student Experience. We are equally committed to creating opportunities for people from groups traditionally under-represented in the field of Computer Science and therefore the ability to relate to and mentor students and colleagues within an increasingly ethnically and gender diverse community is essential.

At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop, and reach your professional and personal career goals. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a university employee, you will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance.

The post is offered on a permanent contract. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 7.25 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Colin Johnson at Colin.Johnson@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
