Role
As the Payroll and Pensions Supervisor reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a highly professional payroll transactional service while ensuring compliance with statutory and legislative requirements. Your responsibilities include providing day-to-day supervision and support to the Payroll team, developing systems and processes to enhance service delivery.
This involves honing skills and technical payroll and pension knowledge to ensure seamless transactions, impacting all customers positively. Collaborating with the Payroll Managers, you will lead and direct the team in providing a high-quality, customer-focused, robust, and efficient service to managers, employees, and external customers. You will lead the continuous development of the 'customer journey,' enhancing key contact points and service delivery standards
Ideal Candidate
In this role, you will offer day-to-day support and technical guidance to the Payroll team, acting as the primary point of contact for query escalations and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused, robust, and efficient service. Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel, is essential, alongside excellent attention to detail and the ability to swiftly adapt to new software/systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the monthly payroll, including pensions data for all schemes, is processed up to the pay run trial. This involves thorough checking of input, audit reports, error and exception reports, and ad-hoc data interrogation from the Payroll System. Additionally, you will deputise for the Deputy Payroll Manager, maintaining a high level of knowledge to ensure compliance with the latest legislative and procedural changes.
Your role involves highlighting and resolving technical issues promptly to support the smooth operation of the Payroll function. Ensuring accurate and timely recording, and where relevant, submission of members' pension data for LGPS, TPS, and USS is crucial, using manual and online systems as applicable for each scheme. You will oversee all statutory and regulatory responsibilities, administer relevant pension scheme rules, and manage employee benefit schemes while staying abreast of government and legislative changes.
Your responsibilities extend to reviewing and maintaining payroll and pension website content, both internally and externally, ensuring appropriateness and high quality. Demonstrating responsibility and accountability, you will actively communicate and liaise with customers, resolving issues to meet service levels and remove barriers. Taking a lead on projects, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues, and maintaining a robust training and induction programme are integral aspects of this role. You will also contribute to minimizing environmental impact, promoting sustainability, and actively supporting the delivery of the DMU Environmental Policy.
If you possess the qualifications, skills, and commitment to excellence required for this role, we invite you to apply and be a vital part of DMU's payroll and pensions operations. Please attach your CV to your application.
