About the role
We are recruiting for a Lecturer in Security and Crime Science with a specialism in statistics, data science and generative AI. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a growing academic team. You will be teaching both on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes beginning at the start of the first academic term (Sept 2024).
The successful candidate will be undertaking academic research and teaching and convening a minimum of two modules from our range of methods courses. These include Quantitative Methods courses (at MSc level) and Probability, Statistics and Modelling courses (at Undergraduate level). This is an FTE 1 36.5 hours.
About you
The successful candidate will have previous experience of teaching quantitative methods, probability, modelling and statistics at university level and additionally experience of teaching in programming languages such as R and Python. They will have a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline and a track record of high quality research publication and activities. We are particularly interested in an individual who can bring a research specialism in Generative AI and the application of Large Language Models to free field text data; but we encourage applications from all suitably qualified candidates, who can contribute to the crime science agenda as outlined above. In line with our interdisciplinary ethos, applicants with the required statistical and programming experience to teach on our programmes may come from any relevant social, physical or life science discipline (e.g., computer science, criminology, data science, economics, engineering, forensic science, geography, ma thematics, political science, psychology, and sociology).
