Do you want to play a key role in using personal health data for research in diagnosing, monitoring and treating neurophysiological disorders? We are looking for a data scientist with a keen interest in neuroscience/neuroinformatics to help us build the National Neurophysiologic Database in Denmark.  

The National Neurophysiologic Database is a 5-year project funded by the Novo Nordic Foundation with partners from Copenhagen University hospital, Computerome and the Technical University of Denmark. The purpose of the database is to collect neurophysiological data from all hospitals in Denmark and make it available for research. When completed, the database will contain data from more than 100.000 measurements, that can be linked to detailed patient records, making it the largest database of its kind worldwide and an unmatched resource for neurophysiological research. 

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your role will be to structure the database in collaboration with researchers in neurophysiology, medicine and data science. You will build tools for data harmonization and quality control. You will also play a key role in analysing data for neurophysiological research. Finally, you will also participate in developing multiple privacy preserving levels of access to the database.  

Our ideal candidate holds a PhD in neuroinformatics, data science or a related field, and has a keen interest in developing a research career in neuroinformatics with the National Neurophysiologic Database at its center.  

The ideal candidate for the position will have the following qualifications: 

  • Strong programming skills in Python and, preferably, also Matlab. 
  • Experience in using version control systems and documenting code
  • Experience in managing larger software projects with many partners
  • Experience in communicating with end users and documenting their requirements 
  • Solid experience with full machine learning pipelines including feature design and selection, classification and validation. 
  • Experience in analysing neurophysiological data, particularly EEG
  • Good knowledge of signal processing
  • Motivation to pursue or, preferably, extend a research career in neuroinformatics and data science 

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). 

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 

The period of employment is initially 1 year but there are further career opportunities after the initial contract based on performance. Starting date is 1 May (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
