Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance

University Academy 92 (UA92)

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance subject area to provide academic and professional insight in order to contribute to educational delivery, including course design (as required) across our range of pioneering programmes at UA92. You will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and an innovative approach to delivering the curriculum.  

You will help lead the development and delivery of the curriculum, assessment of learning and ensure academic administration responsibilities are discharged, for example quality assurance and enhancement. You will ensure students have a sector leading learning experience with a strong trajectory into employment and early career advancement. 

You will join a growing, agile and forward-looking academic team and will work collegiately across the institution, and with employer partners to embed the principles, philosophy and values of UA92. You will work with other academics to ensure ambitious performance and growth targets are met in your areas of responsibility.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible alongside the Course Leader and the wider teaching team for the design and development of allocated Accounting and Finance modules
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of teaching activities within UA92, reflecting the successful candidate’s own subject specialism which are appropriate for the needs of the portfolio of Accounting and Finance within UA92
  • Deliver highly effective and engaging learning and teaching activities at various levels either on campus, online, in an external setting or in a project-based learning environment.
  • Ensure high professional standards are maintained at all times in student engagement and subject delivery.
  • Develop and deliver well formed, appropriate and valid assessments, which allow all learners the opportunity to demonstrate the security of their attainment of module and programme learning outcomes.
  • Respond positively to student feedback (formal and informal) and peer evaluation and adopt a constructive approach when engaging in the review of other colleagues.
  • Report on key performance indicators relating to attendance, retention and achievement, developing and implementing plans to improve performance.
  • Engage in professional development and scholarship in pedagogic approaches relating to learning, teaching, assessment, and feedback, ensuring your practice is up to date, uses modern techniques and technologies, and includes innovation.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the industries related to your subject domain and the current and future graduate-level employment opportunities within them.
  • Engage with commercial Businesses and professional practice across the subject area to enhance student work experience and employment opportunities.
  • Participation in the delivery of new courses, including CPD and degree apprenticeships, integrating enterprise, innovation or external engagement activities.
  • Participate in and contribute to boards, committees, working groups and projects including development of new modules and programmes, innovation initiatives and wider organisational development.
  • Engage actively and proactively in student recruitment activities and events

What we’re looking for:

  • Educated to Master’s degree level in an Accounting/Finance or (if from a professional practice background) an Honours degree plus professional experiences and/or qualifications equivalent to Masters.
  • Professional qualification (full or part qualified) or commitment to achieve one (AAT, CIMA, ACCA, IFA, ACA or other)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, Fellowship of the HEA or an equivalent teaching qualification, OR a willingness to acquire a teaching qualification and HEA membership (if not already held).
  • Ability to confidently use Microsoft tools for communication, time management and delivery of high quality and interactive learning.
  • Ability to engage learners actively, stimulating interest and encouraging attendance through the delivery of high-quality learning sessions and the production of high quality learning materials.
