Job Details

As a key part of the Research Degrees function with the Registry team, the Registry Officer (Student Experience & DTP) will be responsible for managing enhancements to the overall student experience as well as the day to day running of the MRC Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP). This role would suit a motivated and highly-organised individual with an enthusiasm for maintaining a supportive and high-quality learning environment and an interest in the management of cohort-based training programmes. Currently hybrid working: 2 days per week on-site in Sutton with travel to Chelsea when required (approximately twice per month). On-site working may increase at busy times.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate should ideally have experience of supporting postgraduate training/students and must understand current trends and issues in postgraduate education and thehigher education environment more broadly. You will be experienced in listening and responding to the needs of a range of stakeholders with excellent interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to relate to a wide variety of people - from industry leaders, research councils and professional staff to of course, students. The ability to manage a large and diverse workload is essential, along with experience collating and presenting information to inform reports.

MRC Doctoral Training Partnership

The aim of this new Doctoral Training Partnership, funded by the MRC (Medical Research Council), is to produce information science literate experimental scientists equipped to work in a team science environment. The three embedded themes of the DTP (Genome Stability and DNA Damage Response; Advanced Therapeutics; Radiation Oncology and Biology) each address current challenges in cancer and through these, the DTP will provide training opportunities which lay the groundwork for students to succeed in medical research careers. The training will ensure that all students master the fundamentals in each of the themes alongside extensive computational training as well as developing core and transferable skills. In order to achieve this the first year of study incorporates a taught element for one day a week, with cohort activities embedded throughout the degree programme.
