Research Project Manager

National Migraine Centre

Hours: Two days per week

Contract: One-year initially, to be renewed subject to funding

The National Migraine Centre is the UK’s headache treatment charity, providing not-for-profit consultations for thousands of patients each year, producing patient information and content, and supporting research designed to improve diagnosis, treatment and outcomes for those with migraine and other primary headaches.

We are seeking an experienced Research Project Manager to join our dynamic team, working to support the development of a registry to collect data that will allow the charity and researchers to analyse treatment options, understand long-term trends and, ultimately, improve the provision of treatment for those affected by headache.

Job description:

  • Work with a specialist digital analytics agency to manage their development of a new registry, tracking treatments and outcomes for our patients.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, and funders to facilitate project collaboration and progress.
  • Develop and implement systems for ensuring the project is developed in accordance with ethical best practice and regulatory frameworks.
  • Collect, process and store information in accordance with the charity’s data protection policies as well as relevant legislation.
  • Review treatments and outcomes for individual patients, maintaining records within the registry.
  • Utilise project management tools to coordinate project activities, timelines, and resources. Ensure tasks are completed to deadline and within budget.
  • Provide reports to support the charity and its partners in understanding and acting upon registry data.
  • Manage all budgets for the project.
  • Provide updates to grant funders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure anticipated grant income is received on time and is correctly accounted for.
  • With the Operations Director and the Clinical & Communications Director, develop funding applications to ensure the continuation of the project.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Understand and work within the National Migraine Centre’s policies and procedures.
  • Familiarise yourself with and work within the terms of the contract between the charity and the digital analytics agency.
  • Manage and oversee other research projects related to migraine treatment and support.

Essential attributes:

  • Experience in project management within a research environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working on research projects, including methodologies, ethics, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proactive attitude with a commitment to driving projects forward and achieving results.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

Desirable attributes:

  • Experience within the UK healthcare sector.
  • Experience working on projects involving the development of medical registries.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
