The role

We are looking for a diligent Income Officer to join our Payments Acceptance & Compliance Team here at the University of Bristol. You will deliver the critical task of income processing, bank reconciliation and ensuring compliance of payment security. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity of our financial data and optimising revenue collection processes which will play a key role in supporting the university financial position. This is an exciting opportunity to support such a key function within the Income and Credit Control department.

You will provide day to day financial support for our external and internal customers while collaborating with various stakeholders. As an Income officer you will collaborate closely with team members to ensure seamless financial operations. An Income Officer should have a strong interest in finance, payment processing, data analysis and problem solving. The right candidate will be meticulous with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance with financial policies and regulations.

This is a hybrid role where you will be expected to work three months of the Student Academic Year within the Fees Income Team conducting student income related tasks. You should have the ability to be flexible to work between teams within Income & Credit Control department.

What will you be doing?

  • You will be responsible for daily accurate recording and posting of income within the Income & Credit Control area using a variety of systems.
  • You will proactively investigate unreconciled transactions which involves correcting any mis-postings, identify discrepancies and escalate them to relevant senior(s) or department.
  • Receiving and conducting investigation to respond to related finance issues and queries from various communication sources.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate financial data to support end of month processes.
  • Using a variety of Microsoft 365 packages on a daily basis to carry out tasks, mainly Excel & Word · Authorising and processing refunds of refunds
  • Responding to questions and queries relating to payment security
