Organization description:

Edinburgh College of Art is a vibrant and diverse community of approximately 200 researchers working across the arts, humanities and social sciences. Our research takes place across our five subject areas as well as our two major centres – The Institute of Design Informatics and OPENspace – and over 20 smaller groupings.

We value diversity of research modalities: abstract and applied, individual, collaborative and co-produced, disciplinary and interdisciplinary. Our work generates creative and rigorous responses to key challenges of our time, from artificial intelligence, data literacy, climate action, health and wellbeing to social inequalities. Alongside this, we nurture our established areas of expertise.

The opportunity:

Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly organised Knowledge Exchange and Innovation Manager. In this role, you will work independently and on your own initiative, while being integrated into ECA’s Research, Knowledge Exchange and Innovation Service team. You will employ your experience of delivering KEI support and your analytical skills in advising academics in 1-1 meetings and training sessions on developing and evidencing impact from their research. You will contribute to strategy development and REF submission plans at ECA, and design and implement initiatives to increase the positive impact of ECA’s research on industry, policy makers and the general public. Prior experience of working in an arts-related/creative practice or industry environment will be considered an asset.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week). We are open to considering requests for flexible and/or hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Ability to confidently and accurately advise and support academic colleagues in developing impact from their research
  • High level of initiative and excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively translate and communicate research to a range of audiences
  • Ability to capture, record and report on relevant data around knowledge exchange and impact
