Are you interested in working in groundbreaking cancer research at the University of Sheffield? We have an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for science looking to use their skills to make an impact in cancer research.

You will join the ex vivo group in our large and diverse academic Division of Clinical Medicine. In this varied role, you will be responsible for tissue processing and high-content microscopy the ex vivo screening platform. Our aim is to develop this methodology into a service for drug development and moving it toward become a potential predictive device which could aid clinical decisions.

We are seeking candidates with a degree and/or significant, relevant experience in a related research environment. The role will involve lab support for cell culture of primary tumour samples, high throughput drugs screens, and analysis by high content microscopy. The post will entail setting up a LIMS system for sample receipt and tracking, leading laboratory health and safety, implementing quality assurance and document management systems, and drafting relevant SOPs, COSHH forms, and Risk Assessments. You will provide training on the operation of technical equipment and safe working practices, ensuring appropriate records are maintained. In addition, you will ensure the laboratory environment is well maintained and undertake administrative support tasks, for example, ordering materials, reagents and sample collection.
