We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to deliver the coordination, operation and governance of a major collaborative award, the Northern Net Zero Accelerator (NNZA). This £5M award by the EPSRC will make, collate and translate knowledge from research on Net Zero technologies, policy, energy and industrial systems, to deliver impact in partnership with regional industry sector and civic bodies. The programme is a partnership between Newcastle, Durham, Hull, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside Universities and regional civic and industry organisations.
The Project Manager will have a senior role in the ongoing development and delivery of the NNZA. The main focus of the role comprises management of the programme and relationships with partner universities, non-partner universities, civic partners and industrial partners to deliver impact through licensing and new venture creation, and collaborative cross-sector partnerships. A key aspect of the role will be to work with the Principal- and Co-Investigators, to identify areas of market need or potential and to identify areas of research, expertise, know-how or services which could address those needs. Furthermore, the project aims to promote a step change in the knowledge-exchange culture across the partners and encourage researcher mobility through the two-way movement of researchers between academia and external partners; and to promote the development of Net Zero skills in the North East and Humber.
We are looking for an individual with leadership potential and the ability to motivate a team and instil confidence in our stakeholders and who can also readily adapt to the challenges and changes that arise as the project comes to fruition. Ultimately, you will have the ability to intrinsically appreciate the project and articulate the vision to stakeholders.
The position is available on a full-time, fixed-term contract basis until 31st December 2027.
