Department and project consortium
The Department of Psychology provides a stimulating and vibrant research environment designed to encourage and support individuals in crossing conventional disciplinary boundaries to collaborate in research.
We now seek to recruit a Senior Research Officer and a Research Officer to work with the Dr Silvia Rigato (PI), and Co-Is Dr. Maria Laura Filippetti, Dr Carina de Klerk and Dr Eszter Somogyi on a project financed by the ESRC and entitled ‘The role of multisensory experience in the development of body representations’. The Senior Research Officer post will start on 1 July 2024 and end on 30 June 2028 (duration 48 months). The Research Officer post will start on 1 October 2024 and end on 30 November 2027 (duration 38 months).
Duties of the Role
For these positions, the Senior Research Officer and the Research Officer will work on a novel approach that combines training paradigms and developmental cognitive neuroscience to study the development of own body representations in the first year of life. The postholders will have an active role in carrying out the main activities to support the successful execution of this project, which range from recruiting and working with participants to analysing results of the experiments. They will receive training and support for these duties, and they will have regular meetings and correspondence with the PI and the Co-Is.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate for the Senior Research Officer post will hold a relevant doctoral level degree in cognitive or developmental psychology/neuroscience (or be close to completion of PhD). The successful candidate for the Research Officer post will hold a BSc/BA in Psychology or relevant discipline (e.g., Cognitive Neuroscience).
You will possess programming skills required for coding experiments and analysing data, or clear capacity and willingness to learn (e.g., in R, MATLAB).
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team are essential.
