Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 17th April 2024

The Rhodes Trust, based at the University of Oxford, is an educational charity that forges brighter futures for individuals and the world. We do this through a family of global fellowship programmes.

Our flagship programme is the Rhodes Scholarship, the world’s preeminent graduate fellowship, which supports exceptional young people from around the world for two or more years of graduate study at the University of Oxford. One hundred Scholars are selected annually on the basis of intellect, character, leadership potential and commitment to service. With a remarkable legacy of educating leaders and change agents from all walks of life, the Rhodes Scholarships represent the core of the Trust’s mission to find and develop leaders who will build a better world.

For the approximately 250 Scholars in residence, Rhodes House serves as a vibrant and welcoming hub. Scholars pursue academic coursework across the University, reside in different colleges, and get involved in a wide array of university activities. They also form community, within and across cohorts, at Rhodes House, supported by programming which is both informal and formal, Scholar-led and Trust-led.

Many Scholars experience Rhodes House as a ‘home from home’ in Oxford. They come to Rhodes House to study, to engage socially, or to seek advice or support. The Registrar/Director of Scholar Affairs seeks to be relational, accessible and available for academic or personal support and signposting. The new Deputy Registrar will play a parallel and integral role in supporting and guiding the individuals which make up this vibrant community and in ensuring excellence and parity of the Scholar experience for all.

The Deputy Registrar role is an opportunity for someone with significant experience of working with high achieving young people and within academic administration to take on and develop a new role working closely with the Director of Scholar Affairs, the Scholar Affairs team and Rhodes Scholars in residence at Oxford.

The Rhodes Trust is mid-way through a 10-year strategic plan which will increase the number of Scholarship from 105 to 125 per year as well as plans to deepen and enrich the Scholar experience and ensure parity and excellence of the Scholarship for all. The Deputy Registrar will be at the heart of supporting these developments.

Application is by submission of a full curriculum vitae and a two-page covering letter of application, addressing the job description and person specification.
